My Love, My Loss

This poem has been entered for the Sunday Telegraph Poetry for Performance Competition

We went everywhere together
A life of love and joy
Regardless of the weather
I guarded your two wheeled toy

I remember that time in Devon
Me swinging from that gate
A marriage made in heaven
But for you it was too late

I still don’t know my failings
Your rejection was such a shock
I’m still attached to those railings
An orphaned bicycle lock
